Their plan called for the battleships to be converted into a similar size carrier as the Essex-class. This opinion gain more momentum because of the vulnerability of battleships as shown by the attack on Pearl Harbor. Instead, they advocated converting the hulls into aircraft carriers a la Saratoga (CV-2) and Lexington (CV-3). The designers of the Iowa class attempted to produce a design that made no such sacrifices.Įven though the design was very remarkable, some policy analysts were not sold on that the United States needed more the idea that the United States needed more battleships. Previous battleships had to give up performance in either speed, armor, or firepower in order to achieve better results in the other two. If you don't like it you can always play a different ship. These were among the most powerful warship ever assembled. I would just bite the bullet and grind it out. The Montana well that isn't so great I think at least. I play it almost every day unless I'm working on tech tree ships. So is it really worth it to move on ? or just stay at NC and technically finish the American BB line ?Īre you kidding me the Iowa is a blast for a tech tree ship. Even with lowered citadel it still gets hit by more HE than the NC. The NC is a really great BB probably the best but I just got really bored, like I want to move on and get a different feel.īut all I heard that Iowa has great gun with great speed for a BB, but it is just a big hulking target, and a torpedo magnet. Is it really worth it moving beyond the NC. I have research the Iowa and the Montana long time ago ( but during that time they both had raised citadel and I didn't dare to move on).
